As Paul begins the conclusion of his letter to the Galatians he is now inspired to remind believers of the law of Christ, that we should be good to one another love. First the apostle calls on the Galatians to deal with sin among believers with gentleness, with love. Aware of the omnipresence of temptation in the world Christians should arm themselves with the sword that is the word and the shield that is salvation when battling sin and evil. "1 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted." (Galatians 6:1) The Galatians had been subject to false teaching therefore believers were expected to carry each other's burden in Christ like love, fulfilling the law of Christ based on love and kindness. "2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2) Helping the Galatians focus on humility Paul then targets those who consider themselves above others telling them their sense of superiority is in itself a sin brought on by the pride of life. "3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself." (Galatians 6:3) By examining ourselves believers are able to praise God for his blessings poured out freely from above. Making certain not to compare ourselves to others we are called to carry our load and ease the pain of those who struggle with their load. "4 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5 for each one should carry his own load." (Galatians 6:4-5) Another command bestowed upon the Galatians and all of us is one of appreciation displayed through generosity. This verse is often used in teaching Christians about tithing whereas believers are called to share all good things with church leaders in an effort to lighten their financial burden. "6 Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor." (Galatians 6:6) Paul then reminds the Galatians God is almighty and cannot be mocked. Using an expression known onto everyone among an agricultural society the apostle illustrates the fact all will be judged according to their ways, their deeds. "7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." (Galatians 6:7) Those who allow their sinful nature which is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life will reap destruction while those in Christ who choose to honor God in their lives will inherit a place in heaven. "8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." (Galatians 6:8) The inheritance promised to believers will be plentiful as long as the sowing continues to the end. Through the apostle Paul the word is clear on the fact the Galatians, like ourselves must keep advancing the gospel as well as abide by the law of Christ to reap the rewards associated with God's promise. "9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:9) Paul now calls on Christians to do good onto others no matter their faith or belief though he instructs the Galatians to put emphasis on those in Christ. Without prejudice we are to abide by the law of Christ which calls on believers to serve one another in love. "10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." (Galatians 6:10) A simple message meant for the Galatians should become our way of life. Anyone not sowing seeds of love should fear their harvest knowing God cannot be fooled. The time is near when His judgment will come upon us, until then we must stand firm and abide by the law of Christ as we ready ourselves for the harvest season. Let us pray! Father God; Lord we ask you to strengthen us each day as we endure through battles, God we pray that you will continue to bless us, to bless our lives and fill us with hope May your will be done We thank you for your love and all you bless us with each day. Praise God, This message was written by Rev. Daniel St.Pierre
